The Part Where I Talk About Myself.

Some kids dream of becoming a firefighter or a ballerina? Others dream to be an astronaut or a rock star. I always dreamed of becoming a teacher. Despite being highly intelligent, I struggled academically throughout my childhood, only to be diagnosed with a reading disability as an adult. Most of my teachers were willfully ignorant, if not openly hostile, to my struggles. So when I entered college, I knew I needed to help students like me not fall through the cracks. I studied to become a special education teacher. However, I quickly became fascinated by parenting and, eventually, homeschooling styles. It soon became apparent that education was about more than the transferring of academic trivia from adult to child.

Children must learn practical life skills to be successful in life. Those skills cover quite a large range of subjects, from domestic tasks, basic automobile repair, and employment to critical thinking and planning. Fortunately, those subjects can be combined with more traditional subjects like math and history to supply children with a well-rounded education that will prepare them for life beyond the classroom (or homeschool). Let me be your guide as you take your first steps towards creating an individualized education that will prepare your students to solve real-world problems so they can live the life they dream of.
